Swiss Mountains and Glacier Express

This tour introduces travelers to the highlights of this beautiful country and its cultural diversity, including four official languages. The highlight of this tour is a ride on the Glacier Express, one of the most famous train rides in Switzerland that connects the famous mountain resorts of Zermatt and St.Moritz. On this spectacular 7-hour train ride you will cross 291 trestles, 91 tunnels and the 2.033 m/6670 ft high Oberalp Pass.

TRAVELOGUE

Day 1 / Monday
Zurich - Luzern - Mount Titlis - Interlaken
In the morning you travel from Zurich to Luzern. Brief tour of the city. Around noon we travel to Engelberg. Take the Rotair cable car to the top of Mount Titlis and the glacier. At an elevation of 3.020 m (9800 ft), visitors enjoy spectacular views of the Central Alps. In the afternoon you visit the lakeside town of Brienz with its unique woodcarving artisans. Today‘s final destination is Interlaken. Accommodation at the Hotel Royal St. Georges****.

Day 2 / Tuesday
Interlaken - Bern - Gruyeres - Geneva
As we leave Interlaken we follow the shore of Lake Thun to Bern, located on the Aare river, with views of the Alps. We stop for a brief sightseeing tour and then continue to Gruyeres, a picturesque town with an impressive medieval castle. Accommodation at the Hotel Ramada Encore***+.

Day 3 / Wednesday
Geneva - Montreux - Zermatt
Sightseeing tour of Geneva. Continue to Lausanne and Montreux, passing the magnificent Chillon castle. Free time to explore Montreux. In the afternoon you travel up the Rodano river valley as far as Täsch. From here you continue by narrow-gauge train to Zermatt, nestled at the foot of mighty Mount Matterhorn. Dinner and accommodations at Hotel Alex**** in Zermatt.

Day 4 / Thursday
Zermatt
Today is free to explore Zermatt; perhaps enjoy some shopping or book an optional excursion to Gornergrat. Dinner and accommodation at Hotel Alex****.

Day 5 / Friday
Zermatt - Glacier Express (no guide) - St. Moritz
In the morning you board the famous Glacier Express train. Admire the impressive views of mountains, glaciers and snowcapped peaks from the comfortable panorama railcar. In the afternoon you arrive at the famous St. Moritz ski resort. Dinner and accommodation at Hotel Schweizerhof****.

Day 6 / Saturday
St. Moritz - Vaduz - Zurich
Travel over the Fluela pass and Davos to Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein. Free time to explore this charming city. In the afternoon we return to Zurich. Along the way we stop for a short visit at Toggenburg to admire the traditional picturesque houses. Arrival in Zurich at train station or Swissôtel at 5 p.m.

During holidays, conferences and special events, accomodation may only be available outside the city. Excursions and tours are usually not affected by these events.
