Central Europe & Romantic GermanyBudapest, the city is divided in two parts: “Buda” , where the old castle of the city is located and “Pest” with its shops and hotels Prague, the historic centre of the city was designated a UNESCO World Heritage sites in 1992 Frankfurt, the financial and commercial capital of Germany Heidelberg, the oldest university town in Germany, with an idyllic location near the Neckar River. It looks like a fairytale town. Freiburg, here you fi nd the Kaiserstuhl vineyards and the famous Freiburg Cathedral, with the „most beautiful church tower in Christianity“. Titisee, precious lake located on the “Clock route”. This is the largest lake in the Black Forest Lindau, small island located on the shore of Lake Constance Füssen, the most southern point on the “Romantic Route” Neuschwanstein, the famous castle seems to have stepped off the pages of a fairytale Oberammergau, picturesque village, famous for its Passion Play and crafts. Ettal Abbey, Benedictine abbey Garmisch Partenkirchen, capital of winter sports and Olympic Winter Games Linderhof, one of the three castles commissioned by king Ludwig II of Bavaria Munich, the cosmopolitan city of Munich still preserves the charm of a small town TRAVELOGUE Day 1: Vienna Arrival at the airport of Vienna and transfer to your hotel. Overnight stay. Day 2: Vienna At 9 a.m. you depart on a sightseeing tour of the city, visiting the Ringstrasse with its many monuments such as the Opera, the museums of Fine Arts and Natural Science, the Maria Teresa monument, the Parliament, City Hall, the National Theatre and the the Hofbur, the imperial palace. In the afternoon you have time for some shopping. Day 3: Vienna Today you are free to explore Vienna at your leisure. Overnight. Day 4: Vienna - Budapest (250 km/155 mi) In the morning you travel to Hungary by bus, arriving in Budapest around noon. In the afternoon you visit Budapest, the pearl on the Danube River. The city consists of two parts: Buda, where you find the historic center of the city, the upscale mansions and embassies; and Pest where you find the city’s commercial center with hotels and restaurants. Overnight accommodation in Budapest. Day 5: Budapest Breakfast and a free day to explore at your leisure. Overnight accommodation in Budapest. Day 6: Budapest - Prague (550 km/341 mi) In the morning you leave for Prague by bus, traveling through Brno. Overnight accommodation in Prague. Day 7: Prague In the morning you explore the city, visiting the castle of Prague and the San Vito Cathedral, Vladislaus Hall, the most magnificent central European room dating back to the gothic period, and the picturesque Gold alley. In the afternoon you are free to explore the city on your own. Overnight accommodation in Prague. Day 8: Prague Breakfast and a free day to explore at your leisure. Overnight accommodation in Prague. Day 9: Prague - Dresden - Berlin (360 km/223 mi) Breakfast and departure for Dresden, one of the prettiest cities in Germany, located on the banks of the Elbe River. The city was heavily hit by US bombings during World War II but many historic buildings have been restored. Continue your tour to Berlin. Overnight accommodation in Berlin. Day 10: Berlin Breakfast followed by a sightseeing tour of the city. Highlights include the famous Kurfürstendamm and Unter den Linden avenues, the Brandenburg Gate, the symbol of a unified Germany, Alexanderplatz square and the Humboldt University. The afternoon is free to explore at your leisure. Overnight accommodation in Berlin. Day 11: Berlin - Frankfurt (590 km/366 mi) After breakfast you leave for Frankfurt, traveling through the city of Weimar, which even today still preserves its medieval character. The city has had many illustrious residents such as Joann Sebastian Bach, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Friedrich Nietzsche. Continue to Frankfurt. Overnight stay. Day 12: Frankfurt - Heidelberg (274 km/170 mi) In the morning you travel to Heidelberg to visit the famous castle. Then you have time for a sightseeing tour of the city. There is a reason why Heidelberg, Germany’s oldest university town, is one of the most visited places in the country. Continue your tour to Freiburg. Overnight stay. Day 13: Freiburg – Lake Titi - Lindau - Füssen (268 km/166 mi) After breakfast you enjoy a tour of Freiburg to explore the city. This is where you find the vineyards of Kaiserstuhl and the famous Freiburg catedral, known for having “the most beautiful tower in all of Christianity”. Continue your trip to Lake Titi. Nestled along the “Cuckoo Clock Route”, this lake is the largest in the Black Forest. A brief stop along the lake, then you continue to Lindau, a small island in Lake Constance. After a stop here you continue to Füssen. Overnight stay. Day 14: Neuschwanstein - Oberammergau - Ettal - Garmisch-Partenkirchen (80 km/50 mi) In the morning you visit Neuschwanstein castle, built by Ludwig II, known as the Mad King. The Bavarian king had this castle built in a neo-romantic style, resembling the medieval castles of the German knights. In the afternoon you travel to Overammergau, a picturesque village, famous for its passion play. Then you visit the Benedict Abbey in Ettal. Continue your tour to Garmisch Partenkirchen, the capital of winter sports and the site of the 1936 Winter Olympics. Here you find Germany’s highest peak, the Zugspitze (2962 m/9700 ft). Overnight stay. Day 15: Garmisch-Partenkirchen – Linderhof - Munich (90 km/56 mi) In the morning you have to relax or to explore the city; you can also take the cable car to the top of Zugspitze (tour not included in this package). In the afternoon you travel to Munich. Along the way you visit the Linderhof caste. This is one of the three castles built by king Ludwig II of Bavaria, who also had the famous Neuschwanstein castle built. Overnight accommodation in Munich. Day 16: Munich Alter breakfast you visit the gardens of the Palace of the Nymphs. This baroque palace was the summer residence of the Bavarian kings and the birthplace of king Ludwig II. Then you continue to the center of the city for a sightseeing tour of the main monuments and attractions. Munich, the capital of Bavaria and famous for its beer festival (Octoberfest) celebrated at the end of September, lies near the Alps. In the afternoon you are free to explore the city at your leisure. In the evening you will enjoy a Bavarian Night at the famous Hofbräuhaus, an evening with music and folk dancing and a typical Bavarian buffet dinner. Overnight stay. Day 17: Munich or Munich – Frankfurt (396 km/246 mi) After breakfast our tour ends. Transfer out to the airport Munich or Frankfurt.
