Pilgrimage to Schönstatt

Schönstatt, near Koblenz, is the birthplace and world center of the International Apostolic Schoenstatt Movement. There are more than 20 international communities worldwide of the Roman Catholic Maria Movement, founded in Germany in 1914. Pilgrims come from all over the world to visit the Original Shrine in Schönstatt. Discover the origin and spirituality of this sacred place and visit historic cities like Cologne and Aachen.
TRAVELOGUE
 
Day 1 Frankfurt 
Arrival at Frankfurt airport and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to spend at your leisure. 
 
Day 2 Frankfurt - Heidelberg - Frankfurt 
Today we visit the city of Heidelberg and enjoy a sightseeing tour of the historic city center and visit the famous castle. Germany’s oldest university town, Heidelberg is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. Visitors enjoy its vibrant atmosphere and idyllic setting near the Neckar River, surrounded by forests and vineyards. Return to Frankfurt. 
 
Day 3 Rhine river cruise - Schönstatt 
In the morning we travel to Rüdesheim on the Rhine River. Before boarding the boat we enjoy a short tour of the historic city center. The cruise sails along the most picturesque stretch of the Rhine: the Lorelei valley. We disembark in St. Goar and continue our tour to the Schönstatt Shrine where a nun will accompany us on a tour of the valley. Includes a visit to the main shrine. Dinner. 
 
Day 4 Schönstatt 
Morning mass at the Shrine. Next we visit the Adoration Church and the tomb of father Kentenich, founder of the Schönstatt movement. Time for mediation and prayer. After lunch we visit the house of Father Kentenich and the museum. Dinner . 
 
Day 5 Schönstatt - Cologne 
Today we visit various chapels on Mount Sion, Moriah and Nazareth. After lunch we say goodbye to Schönstatt and continue our tour to Cologne. 
 
Day 6 Cologne 
Cologne is the city of churches. Within the medieval walls of the city we find a large number of churches and convents, a treasure trove of medieval architectural gems. A UNESCO World Heritage monument, Cologne‘s cathedral is the largest in Germany and one of the most important pilgrimage churches in Europe. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city. Afternoon free to spend at your leisure. 
 
Day 7: Cologne - Aachen - Cologne 
In the morning you visit Aachen. Highlights of the city include the impressive cathedral (UNESCO world heritage monument), the gothic city hall and historic merchant houses. In the afternoon we return to Cologne. 
 
Day 8 Cologne - Frankfurt 
Transfer to Frankfurt airport. 
 
If you would like to modifiy the program or include other cities we can adjust the itinerary according to your interests. 
During holidays, conferences and special events, accomodation may only be available outside the city.
